This Friday we’re going to have the HCA Creative Arts awards, then Saturday will give us DGA’s awards, followed by BAFTA Awards on Sunday. The following weekend we’ll get HCA’s proper Film awards on Friday, the PGA’s awards on Saturday, and then SAG’s awards on Sunday. Those are two straight weekends of major awards being given out before the voting period begins. Nominees had their big luncheon yesterday and now walk into the final stretch of the campaign. This is basically the playoffs before the big Super Bowl game. As we head into these key awards, here’s my first and second to last overall projections for the victors on Oscar night. The final projections will come after those pivotal two weekends ahead of us.
